I grew up in this area and was a close friend of Zula's daughter. This book brings back so many of my childhood memories. I plan to add my own comments to my copy of the book about the things I remember about South Arlington.
Great Memories

Having spent my early childhood on 20th Street in the heart of the area Zula talks about, I found the book charming and full of little memory tweaks. She even mentions my mother on page 128 - I loved it!
Window on the Past, With Charm

"Zula Remembers" is not history. It is what Zula remembers. The stories are anecdotes such as those that would be shared around the cracker barrel or at a Thanksgiving dinner. These stories will charm you and inspire you. Even the slight unevenness of the story-telling is part of the genuine voice of this slim volume. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to connect with the near past and to see real people in action in a real setting, in a time gone by. Although I am the neighbor who urged Zula to start writing and am mentioned in the foreword, I receive no compensation from the sales of this book other than the knowlege that others are sharing the joy of "Zula Remembers."
