My Daughter is 12 and it is still her favorite book!

My aunt gave a copy of Yummers to my daughter when she was a toddler along with some other books. I was curious when I noticed the copyright was 1973! It was older than I was! We both laughed at Emily's insatiable appetite! Well, it instantly became her favorite, and it still is! She loves the book so much I had to start inventing my own "Emily and Eugene" stories to recite to her before bed. I just decided to go online and do a search of James Marshall to see if he wrote anything else. I find it so cute and touching that my almost teenage, Harry Potter, Twilight loving daughter still finds happiness and comfort in our bedtime ritual with Emily and Eugene. :)

My favorite

This was my favorite story when I was little! I am so excited to read it to my son!

Diet, schmiet! You've got to have FRIENDS!

I'm still mourning James Marshall's death. Reading "Yummers" gives you an inkling of what bibliophiles miss. His gentle humor, comical yet endearing illustrations. And yet, always wisdom behind the joke. But he never beats you over the head with it. I've read all of James Marshall's books (over and over) and I never get tired of them. At least we've got something to remember him by.

I have loved this book for over 20 years!! That says alot!!

This book was my favorite as a child, maybe it was the way my mother read it that endeared it to me. Whatever reason, the pictures and story are cute and comical. It shows how a friends best attempt to help, sometimes doesn't end the way they planned. And maybe just BEING a friend is all the help a friend ever really needs.
