When I purchased this book I assumed that it would be like most of the other decorating color scheme books available. I was delighted to be wrong! This book does not have page after page of rooms painted different colors. Instead, it teaches you how to determine which types of colors fit your personality best (eg: bright or muted, warm or cool, etc), so that you can narrow down your choices and pick colors that you'll be able to live with. It divides color personalities into four groups, gives sample palettes for each group, and then shows a few examples of decorating schemes using those groups of colors. Best of all, it shows you how to compromise and decorate using two different groups, for couples or roommates who have vastly different color preferences. I'd consider it a good investment for anyone having trouble choosing colors to decorate with. A similar book is Color Style: How to Identify the Colors That Are Right for Your Home, which has almost twice as many color categories to choose from, and great tips on how to decorate with the color palettes. You might also find it helpful to pick up a color scheme book or two to go with it. Try Color Schemes Made Easy (Better Homes & Gardens) and New Color Schemes Made Easy (Better Homes & Gardens).
