"Unless you become as a little child, you shall not enter the Kingdom of heaven" . . . Recently Saint Therese of Lisieux - Saint Therese of The Child Jesus - "The Little Flower" was declared a Doctor Of The Church by the late great Pope John Paul II. And Saint Therese charted a course to guide us in living "the Gospel" message of Jesus which she called "her little way". Saint Therese showed us "how" we can become as a little child, even as adults, so as to find our way to heaven in keeping with those words of Jesus. A young child died in Portugal on February 20, 1920, just a month short of her tenth birthday . . . a young girl named Jacinta Marto. Jacinta, along with her brother Francisco and her older cousin Lucia experienced a visitation of the light of heaven in 1917 at the Cova Da Iria near Fatima in the person of Mary, The Lady Of The Rosary. Christopher Rengers, OFM Cap. in his short book presents the amazing effects this "visitation by heaven" had on these visionaries and in particular on the youngest of the three - Jacinta. Although Jacinta was just a child, she was transformed by the graces of those apparitions to such an extent that she lived a more mature and deep spiritual life than imaginable - and she lived it in her "little way" -- a way totally conformable to that taught by Saint Therese of Lisieux. Whether we be young or old, there is much we can learn from Jacinta Marto . . . and there is much we can discover about Jacinta and about heaven . . . and about ourselves from reading and meditating on the message of this biography of "The Youngest Prophet". Whatever you know about Fatima from other books and sources becomes so much clearer and illumined with insight from this study of this one small child and her life of prayer and sacrifice. It is not a volume to be passed over or ignored. And if you take the time to read it . . . and re-read it . . . you will find yourself a devoted friend and "prayer partner" in Jacinta -- a companion as you pray your Rosary and other prayers, and a spiritual companion through your life's pilgrimage to the heaven she "saw" in 1917 and entered in 1920 at age "ten". Christopher Rengers has written a most readable text . . . one you will not read just once and put away.
