If I would have found this book years ago, it could have saved me a lot of grief dealing with difficult family members, friends and coworkers. Bill Borcherdt explains how to control anger using practical and no-nonsense methods. He explains that human beings will always act irrational yet it is we ourselves that inflict our own mental suffering, not the actions of others. He also explains that no matter how hard we try, we will never be able to control what happens in the universe and it is best not to anger ourselves about it. The book features summaries and checklists that make it easy to take notes and apply the anger management principles to your every day life. Within a week of reading this book, I noticed that my anger levels started to dissipate and I was a lot more calm when dealing with difficult people. Borcherdt explains the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) in a humorous and mostly easy-to-understand way, although he often uses somewhat far-fetched allegories in his writing style. Still, I was extremely pleased with this book and look forward to reading other titles by the author.
