XML lets developers capture, manipulate and exchange virtually any kind of document or data, without loss of integrity. Because XML lets you create common formats for sharing information between devices and platforms--such as mobile phones, Web browsers and company data stores--many experts have begun calling it the "lingua franca," or universal language of the Digital Age. Developers, especially developers for the Web and intranets, can't afford to be XML illiterate. But that powerful markup language has a lot of rules and can be a bit tricky to master. And that's where this book comes in. XML For Dummies offers you a fast, fun, and easy way to become XML literate. With a minimum of technobabble and tons of sample applications and case studies, the authors get you on track with XML and all its special features. I'm in an online publishing class at a tech university with NO background in anything like this. This book saved me! It explains all so well, and allows LOTS of practice as you read. I can't understand the negative reviews.

I'm never disappointed with Dummies books and this one is no exception. Great read, easy to learn.
Reviews Are About A Different Edition of XML For Dummies
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
These reviews are all very misleading as they refer to a previous edition of the book which is no longer available, the third edition of XML For Dummies. XML For Dummies, 4th edition, the book featured here, addresses many of the concerns raised in the reviews of the third edition.
Excellent Intro to XML
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
This book makes for a very good intoduction to XML, it points out the basics, and thats all you really need to know, XML is very simple. Most the critics who gave this book low reviews, were looking for a book on XML web services, and such. Please do not expect to learn that from this book.
Excellent overview of current state of XML
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
I found this book a much better introduction than the other two books I had looked at on XML, which quickly delved into Java-scripting and program development environments. Unlike these other books, which assume a fair amount of Web programming experience on the part of the reader, XML Dummies does a very good job of presenting a readable overview of the topic. I got through the book quickly, and felt that I had a good grasp of XML and its potential when I was done. I highly recommend it!
