Here we have Ryan Tolliver's story - he is half-brother to Morgan Tolliver in Wyoming Widow. We hear of the disappearance of Molly Ivins as a child. Ryan hears about a white woman living with a tribe of Cheyennes deep in the mountains. He wants to travel the world and see many strange places and makes a deal with Horace Mannington, the grandfather of the lost child. He unwittingly finds her and loses his memory in a snow storm. She saves his life and introduces him to her life with a family of Native Americans. If it hadn't been for them she would never have survived and now she is their protector. The problem now is that the scuzzy, villinous white scum have found their canyon and raped one of the women. The story is tension ridden and emotional as Ryan wants to take Moon Hawk back for the reward for her return and she doesn't see how she can live the white man's way, it will kill her spirit. Mannington turns out to be a munipulator and is also in need of cash. He wants to marry Molly off to a rich old fart, who shows signs of being abusive. The blizzard and snow storms gives one the chills on weather alone - then finally Ryan takes Moon Hawk home to his brother's ranch. We learn that Cassie and Morgan have a pair of twin sons. Great little rascals and we met little Rachel again, Cassie's daughter by Jack Logan. Fascinating story of hormones and love [?] and brotherly affection. Finally it seems that Ryan is growing up. Definitely Recommended - next comes Rachel's story.
