Like an action adventure movie--a roller coaster of action

On balance, retired trial lawyer-turned-beach-bum Matt Royal is a pretty laid-back fellow. But when Laurence Wyatt, one of Matt's best friends, is murdered, Matt trades in his easygoing ways for a hard-hitting quest for revenge.

Matt knows the Longboat Key police will do their job in investigating. But for Matt, finding...

Excellent!

Excellent! This was a really great book. The author really knew how to create a thrilling book that will pull you in from the start. It's definitely full of excitement as you grip your seat and wait for every new twist with each new page. I had this book read in less than 2 days...it was just that good! I felt myself actually being pulled in and be apart of the fast past, roller coaster ride of mystery and suspense. I rate this book with 5 although I think it deserves a whole lot more for being such a suspenseful, heart pumping, pulse racing, edge of your seat page turner! Highly recommended!

Wyatt's Revenge review

Every book gets better and better and this one is proof. This book was very entertaining with some great plot twists. It was a fast read and a great ride.

Part thriller, part historical, and all great

Reviewed by Cherie Fisher for Reader Views (01/10) This is H. Terrell Griffin's fourth Matt Royal Mystery and the first one that I have read. I really enjoyed this well-written, action-packed thriller and plan to read the other three. Matt Royal is a retired lawyer living a very pleasant life in Longboat Key, Florida. He spends his days working out, boating and visiting his favorite bars. This all comes to a screeching halt when his best friend Laurence Wyatt is killed, execution style, in his home on Longboat Key. Sickened by what happened, Vietnam veteran Royal vows to catch the killer and make him pay for what he did to his friend. Matt's investigation turns nasty as he finds himself embroiled in a cover-up that dates back to World War II. It quickly becomes apparent that the people that are being protected are very high up in either the government or among America's wealthiest individuals. As the story starts to unravel, and Matt is targeted for death, he realizes that he has to go to Europe to answer some very important questions. He is joined by some of his old friends from his days in Vietnam, and this mystery requires that all of their skills be put to good use. All leads point to the protection of the identities of post-war Nazis who escaped Germany after amassing tremendous wealth from the Jews. I started to feel jet-lagged as Matt went to Europe and then had to rush back to Florida to save his friend who had been kidnapped. And then he went right back to Europe to follow up more leads and then back to the United States without a reprieve. This is definitely one of the better thriller books that I've read. The author does an excellent job intertwining historical facts with a great story. If you enjoy a great mystery thriller, than I highly recommend "Wyatt's Revenge." I hope that H. Terrell Griffin plans on future installments of Matt Royal mysteries.

Wyatt's Revenge....a real page turner!

I think the main character in this great novel is one of my new favorites. Matt Royal is a retired trial lawyer, now a laid back beach bum enjoying the fruits of his years of hard work as a trial lawyer. When a good friend Laurence Wyatt is murdered, Matt is torn about what to do. He wants to solve the crime and avenge the death, but he knows the local police force is on the job, and will do their best to solve the crime. Our laid back beach bum starts his own investigation, and with a personal interest in the case, it becomes a very serious quest. Following his lead, he becomes the hunted by a group of relentless and heartless criminals, who will kill with impunity. Knowing he is in trouble, Matt contacts 2 good friends to help him out. The investigation takes them into dangerous territory, from Florida to Germany and spots in between. However, Matt Royal is no man who backs down from a challenge, regardless of the danger. Filled with twists, turns and suspense, this novel is enjoyable and great fun to read. The characters are well drawn, and the reader finds himself taken along on a dangerous and suspenseful ride towards an ending that may lead them outside the bounds of the law to solve the crime. I really enjoyed the character of Matt Royal, and look forward to reading more of his adventures. He may be a retired beach bum, but he is also a very exciting fellow!

Matt swaps his easygoing life for Wyatt's Revenge

Hi Readers, Matt Royal is a very relaxed guy. He is a retired lawyer and ex Green Beret living a life of ease on Longboat Key in Florida. Matt's best friend, Laurence Wyatt, is assassinated by a professional hit man and, as a result, Matt swaps his easygoing life to go on a quest for wyatt's Revenge. Matt is good friends with the police Chief of Longboat Key and is aware that Chief Lester will do everything necessary to solve this case but, to Matt, this is personal and he is determined to find Wyatt's killer. The only thing missing from Wyatt's place is his laptop. It's hard to figure out who would have wanted Wyatt dead as he is now a professor. Although, he was once a savage Green Beret. Matt takes matters into his own hands and starts on a secret investigation of his own helped by Logan Hamilton and Jock Algren who are old friends from his Army days. Soon, he finds a group of trained killers that he knows had something to do with Wyatt's death and soon the hunter becomes the hunted. As Matt and his buddies learn the truth about Wyatt's death they find treachery and danger that was larger than any of them expected. And, from an unlikely source. Matt and his friends travel from Longboat Key to Europe and everywhere in between to run down clues that Wyatt had left behind. I'll give you a hint. The year is 1945, the end of the war in Europe. Nazis are involved, along with a Captain in the OSS and an Arab that owns a bank. It just gets better and better. Expect the unexpected and I can guarantee that this is a real page turning mystery that will keep you guessing until the last page. I heartedly recommend this to myster fiction readers, WWII fans and anyone in between. It is very fast paced and takes you from place to place so you can't nap in between chapters. Mr. Griffin has written three other Matt Royal mysteries which I plan to read when I can. I have to admit that when I saw the book advertised the first thing I thought of was that it was a story about Wyatt Earp. Boy, what a nice surprise was waiting for me when I received Wyatt's Revenge. It is an entertaining book that any mystery addict will enjoy. Of course, anything that brings the good old Nazis to the forefront is interesting. Authors don't write about them anymore because they are old news but, you have to admit they were unforgettable villians and we love to hate them. Good Job Mr. Griffin!!!
