I recentaly read this book as I was the captain of the last boat Des crewed on about 25 years after his trip. Lots of fun to read about his experance on the boat I spent 4 years sailing around the pacific in. Facinating account and a reminder that not too long ago the world was a much bigger place with out GPS, WeatherFax and modern communication systems. Reading about his trips makes me respect the guys who went out to sea in the '50 and '60, they were real adventures. A well writen quick read that I highly recomend, esp. to younger readers - I you want something you can go out and get it.
What a start to a great career!!!

Not many people actually go out and fullfill their dreams. Des Kearns did. His account of his cercumnavigation is extraordinary. The added history and insights to emotions along with great descriptions of scenery and personalities keep you enthralled. My only complaint...it's too short!! Write a sequel Des.
