wonderful book for young babies

This is a recommended book, even though it's most likely the oldest books of its kind, because it uses real photographs and features one concept per page. For example, the page for 'fish' has a bright clear photo of a goldfish and only a goldfish. There is a small version of the sign (for parents) in the corner. My son's first sign was based on this picture. Individuals who are familiar with ASL may notice some regional differences in the signs shown from what they've learned. [...], but it's the clear, bright photos that make it for me in this book. Babies will find them attractive and fun to look at, which will create an opportunity for parents to show / teach the sign for the item shown.

great sign board book

this book has instructions and pictures for 14 asl signs. they are hat, teddy bear, spoon, apple, shoes, book, flower, ball, cup, baby, bowl, crackers, socks, and crayons. my only criticisms are 1. the pictures are outdated, they look like they are from 1983 but i guess babies don't care about that. 2. two words, teddy bear and crayons, are combinations of two signs which i think might be more complicated than a baby needs. i only do the first parts for my daughter. all that said these are objects babies see all the time, they are relatively easy to learn and in a sturdy board book so i highly reccomend it.

a real baby eye-catcher

This book is wonderful!! My 10 month old loves to look at the pictures that are of real objects and not just cartoons. This is a wonderful way to interact with her through the use of signs. She is a hearing baby and we are beginning to use signs to communicate through her toddler years. She really enjoys seeing the signs that go along with the pictures. She has only used one or two of the signs so far... but it really is more than I ever thought it would be.

My toddler loves this book!

I stumbled across this book when searching for books to help teach my toddler sign language. He loves it and brings it to me nearly every day wanting me to read it to him and talk about the colorful pictures. Toddlers will be drawn to this sturdy board book because of the brightly colored pictures of familiar objects such as socks, crackers, and shoes. Parents will find the simple line drawings of the different signs helpful in teaching their children some basic signs. This book is a good introduction to sign language for both hearing and deaf children.
