I knew what this book was about when I ordered it. Even so, I wasn't fully prepared for the full impact of the text. In the most basic sense, the book could have been titled, `Everything You Wanted to Know About Menstruation, But Were Afraid to Ask.' It was at once funny and tragic, physical and spiritual. It is told by old women who have only memories of their periods. It is told by young women who are just starting to deal with the experience. It is told in the form of poems and short stories. It is a fabulous book about a not-so-fabulous subject. After reading it, I passed this one along to my teen-aged daughter. We had a few laughs about it. It also opened the door for some good dialogue between mother and daughter because it removed some of the taboo related to the subject. Bottom line - A must read for every woman.
Very intriguing reading

The monthly visitor, Aunt Flo, That time . . . Periods have been plaguing women (and sometimes men indirectly) for as long as humanity existed. "Women. Period" is a collection of poems, memoirs, and other pieces discussing this universal experience for all women and its implications of their life. Speaking of its many woes and the occasional joy it can bring, "Women. Period." discusses womankind and makes for very intriguing reading.
