Boardbooks for Winter

Winter is a great time for reading to children and this little board book is fun for babies who like to point all the way up through beginning readers who benefit from the large print and limited vocabulary. Chris L. Demarest's illustrations and simple words invite parents and children to talk about their adventures in the snow. Snuggle up with your child and read about the fun of Winter.

Winter: Seasons Board Books

ISBN 0152010270 - One of a 4-book series from author Demarest, Winter appeals on several levels. Get the set, including Spring: Seasons Board Books, Fall: Seasons Board Books, and Summer (Seasons) and introduce your child to the seasons in a fun way. In rhyme, the simple text introduces young readers to some of the fun of the season. The pages have bright, colorful illustrations with unique cut-out sections that serve more than one purpose. The sun's rays on one page serve as the edge of a skater's pleated skirt on the next, for example. The images, from edge to edge on every page, are perfect and the fun that the kids are having is absolutely evident, something young kids will enjoy even if they're too young to do those things themselves. With very few words, children will find learning - or at least memorizing - easy. The novelty of the cut-outs is great and the only flaw is in the pages themselves. Rather than the thick cardboard pages you find in most board books, these pages are two thin cardboard pages stuck together. The odd shapes of the cut away sections sometimes leaves protruding parts that are easily bent. Curl up with this one a cold winter day and keep cabin fever at bay! - AnnaLovesBooks
