Planning your work, and working your plan

I heard Tom speak at a business conference in Santa Fe recently and found his ideas very compelling. The book focuses on how to put those ideas into action, and I view it to be an excellent guide for organizing how I think about work, family, friends, emotional & spritual health, etc. As a 48 year old CEO, I have discovered you can help an pld dog pick a new path.

Timely for my stage of development

Having just learned that there were options in terms of taking control of one's life and carrer (and that they are one in the same) this book read like a how-to manual for helping straigthen out the stray ideas that I was running my life with. I had all the appropriate lines in place but they were not running parallel. This book showed me how to achieve this in a graceful manner. In my case, I had the spiritual part all ironed out but thought that was enough, the "inner-team" approach helped me reconcile alot of issues that were not working out in my plan. This book is thoughtful and considerate for all readers.

This book helps make life what I want it to be.

Many self-help books focus on a single aspect or component of life. This one effectively speaks to the balance of all of them.I greatly enjoyed the fact that it began by helping you get in touch with your mission in life which is the foundation upon which it all builds. Once you identify why you are here, moving forward to set goals, the "What's in it for me", becomes a very natural process."Winning in the Game of Life" helps you balance all the components in your life including intellect, psyche, physical, spiritual, career, and family and get more from each of them by giving more to them. This book beautifully blends traditional management techniques of planning and organizing with the less tangible facets of our lives that allow us to stay centered and keep things in perpsective. It is especially refreshing to read about Tom Gegax's newfound perspective towards his teammates (employees) as a result of his experiences in life.I found this book energizing to read and have had fun sharing the messages with my family and coworkers.

Truly Outstanding book for those seeking powerful living

Having experienced more than my share of "enlightening" coaching, seminars, experiences in my professional and personal life, I give Tom a resounding "5 stars" for a book that is currently and very powerfully changing the course of my life. What Tom has been able to do in this book, is to present a very realistic and usable road map "out" of the "normal" day to day grind that most of us (if we are willing to be honest about it) quietly suffer through. If only read, the book is entertaining and useful, but to me its real power is in using and applying its contents. In many other "how to" books and disciplines, we are left to follow rather strict and limiting paths...no so in this book. I find it extremely easy to apply in my day to day life and yet it hits very, very hard at the heart of things....once again, if you are willing to avail yourself of that. For anyone seeking coaching in having your life work out alot better than it currently is........grab this book and devote time and energy to its contents...you will be glad you did. If you get this book and it does not provide you a wealth of useful and impacting value...then you are probably comitted to a life of misery. There's alot of books out there that deliver the promise of gold but very few that truly deliver the road map to get it.....this is one of them..

Enthusiastic, Purposeful, and Helpful

Winning In The Game of Life is one book that should be on everyone's bookshelf. It is a great guide and reference for those needing help to nail down (or fine-tune) their purpose in life. It's about lifelong learning and working to be the best you can be and continually reflecting on what you do right and where you can improve--without being critical or judgemental--but in a nurturing way. From the perspective of individual wellness, this book is it. There is nothing more important than how you feel (health and otherwise). If you aren't well or working to be in balance, then everything that you do and say, how you act and react to things is going to be dictated by your present state of being. "Winning" helps you feel good about you and your actions. From the business perspective, I wish more organizations embraced this way of thinking and doing. There are more ways to measure the success of a company than the bottom line. If corporate and social responsibility were the measuring stick, then we'd certainly have a much more conscious business community if they followed the secrets for success outlined in Gegax's book."Winning" reads quickly and has very practical information to incorporate into your life right away.It is definitely worth reading.
