Wild Horses

I own Ms. Scott's two previous books and she has once again put faces to a problem I knew little about. Her photographs capture the soul of these American icons in their natural state. At the same time it brings to light the very real dangers they are facing, even the the ugly but quiet practice of shipping wild horses outside the U.S. for slaughter. The book illustrates their plight while ultimately being a beautiful collection of photographs that tells the story of an integral part of American history.

A strongly recommended addition for all personal, community, and academic library Pets & Wildlife

Every since their introduction to the Americas by the Spanish some 500 hears ago, wild horses have been a part of the western American landscape. In three powerful chapters, including an introduction, wild horses, rescue and conservation groups, author Traer Scott brings brilliant light to a darkening issue in "Wild Horses: Endangered Beauty". These are horses endanger of capture and development. From author Scott, " I want every animal lover...to know that these animals do not just exist in legends and children's stories, they are very real; they are living, breathing American history, and they are in danger." Stunning black and white photographs reveal the very nature and life of these unique animals. Enhanced with the inclusion of anecdotal stories of their daily lives, rescue and rehabilitation, "Wild Horses: Endangered Beauty" will appeal to anyone interested in horses and the welfare of wild animals. The documented plight of these gracious creatures fighting for survival, and the individuals and groups working to protect them, make "Wild Horses: Endangered Beauty" a strongly recommended addition for all personal, community, and academic library Pets & Wildlife reference collections and supplemental reading lists.

Dramatic photos - raw beauty

This book is even more captivating than I anticipated. The monochromatic tone of the photographs of wild horses give even more drama to the composition. Traer Scott's eye behind the lens captures real moments in the lives of born-wild horses. Her subjects, though from various regions in the U.S. including Puerto Rico, have a common thread connecting them spiritually - instinct for survival. I love the natural energy and the raw beauty of the photos and the pure emotion that they evoke. This book should be on every horse lover's shelf and on every art lover's coffee table Congrats Ms. Scott for another fine release.
