This was not the greatest book I have ever read, but I was not completely disappointed. Alison is upset when she has to leave her friends and family in Chicago to go to a ranch in Wyoming. She is deathly afraid of heights and afraid of most animals, especially horses, and is not happy that she has to spend the summer with her uncle, aunt, and her blind cousin. She believes that her cousin, Kelly, will be completely dependent on her. Boy was she wrong! Alison learned a lot over one summer. The writing was informative and made for a quick read. It was interesting to see things from the point of view of a city girl, and interesting to see how Kelly managed to get by on a ranch being blind. Cute book, recommended for people 10-13.
A great book about a city girl out west...

Wild Horse Summer was a great book, that had a basic, but good story line, and it taught a lot about horses and ranch life.Alison, almost 13, leaves her parents in Chicago to spend the summer with her aunt, uncle, and cousins in Wyoming. There are some things upsetting her, though - she's afraid of horses, and her cousin Kelly is blind. Alison doesn't want to babysit a blind girl all summer! However, once at the ranch, Alison grows to love it. Her patient uncle teaches her how to ride, Kelly is a great friend, and her cute cousin Bill has a cute friend! When everything is going well, however, disaster strikes...This was a really great book, and I'd recommend it for ages 11 - 14, to anyone who likes horses, the west, or just a good read!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!

This is one of the best horse books ever! It's about a girl, named Alison who comes to visit her blind cousin Kelly's ranch. Alison is afraid she will have to spend her whole time looking out for Kelly, but the exact opposite happens! When Kelly's trained seeing eye horse Cookie gets stolen by a wild stallion, will Alison be brave enough to face her fear of heights and go up the moutain to get Cookie back? Read this great book to find out!
