Joan Childs' daughter, Pam, was a clinical psychologist who experienced difficulties fitting into the 'normal' world from an early age. Only later in life did it become apparent that she had Bipolar I Disorder. This is the story of her struggle and culminating death and a mother's reflections on its cause.
