Who Lives Here? Savanna Animals

The savannas of Africa are full of amazing animals. Animals with tongues as long as your arm, animals that weigh as much as 13 pianos, and animals that can run just one hour after their birth. This book is full of great information about the animals and the things that make them so unique. Having reviewed many children's books, I've found it's hard to find the balance between educational and kid-friendly. This book nails it. I've loved animals as long as I can remember, and many times preferred //Animal Planet// to //Cartoon Network//. If that sounds like your child, this book is perfect for the animal lover in your family. This book is full of information even I didn't know. //Who Lives Here? Savanna Animals// is a great treasure. Deborah Hodge's information is simple to understand while being extremely informative. Pat Stephens does an excellent job of the illustrations; they are realistic and yet still appropriate for a children's book. The last page of the book features some of the animals' special body parts to help reinstill some the facts your child has just read. What I really like about the Who Lives Here? books is that they are so accessible to little ones. Each animal is revealed close up and we learn what makes each so unique - the elephant's trunk, the Giraffe's long tongue and muscular neck, the meerkat's sharp claws. This series makes it easy for little ones to learn about different animals, their habitats and some of their behaviors.
