The Imminent Time Texts, The Recapitulation Structure in Revelation & The Analogy of Scripture Are

There are two interpretive keys that have caused the church to not understand the book of Revelation and become gridlocked: 1) Avoiding the imminent time texts and 2) Not following the recapitulation structure of the prophecy or harmonizing it with the rest of the Old and NT. Amillennialists avoid the time texts while following the recapitulation structure fairly well. Postmillennial Partial Preterists, correctly claim the imminent time texts point to an AD 70 fulfillment. When we combine these two concepts in an exegetical way as Preston has done in this commentary, we get the truth! The book is well written and the research and interaction with the main players from every eschatological view is covered. If you have been praying to understand the book of Revelation, the Lord just answered your prayers. Written for the scholar and layman alike. Great book. Another great book from Don K Preston

Over the past year or so I've read many a preterist book. Sadly, I've tended to go for the lengthier works. As anyone interested in eschatology knows, it's a complicated subject, and often the longer treatment is necessary. I say sadly because it was late in the day that I came across Don K Preston's books. The first book of his I read was "The Last Days Identified". At a mere 100 plus pages I wasn't expecting much. Yet it took me longer to read that book than in took me to read a book three time its size. Why you might ask? Because there's just so much information in it. Don's style is right to the point. He doesn't mess around with long, rambling introductions, and throw speculation after speculation at you. He deals with the facts with such immediacy, and with such force, that his conclusions are mind boggling to the uninitiated. In this book, as with previous efforts, Don takes a genuinely unique approach to preterism. It's not just a rehash of the basic preterist proof texts, rearranged and revamped (which is the downfall of many preterist books on the market today). It's basically an examination of the book of Revelation, as it pertains to the identification of Babylon the Great, also touching upon Paul's epistles, and the book of Lamentations. There's also a section at the back which deals with potential objections to his presentation. All in all, a book ideal for the newcomer and old pro alike, who I'm confident will find many new angles in Preston's work. Highly recommended.
