She can make piercingly clear, in a few well-chosen words, concepts I have struggled to express, both in talking about her feelings as a child and in describing her path to recovery. Because details of abuse are interwoven with accounts of her growing strength as she recovers, their effect is really to underscore the triumph of her healing and convince us that we can heal as well.

How strong is the human soul? This book describes a life that none of us can imagine. As I read the book I could not imagine anyone wanting to damage an innocent child in the ways described in this book. A book that is difficult to put down yet its content is difficult to read .
