4 1/2 Stars...Paranormal Romance with Superbly Developed Characters

Do you believe in psychic gifts? Is there really a spiritual realm that connects the past, present and future? Well, Navena Larimore has started to question reality as her psychic gift has awakened. The past comes back - Maxwell left her heartbroken years ago and now he is her new boss. The present - Luke is always showering Navena with gifts and even though he has asked for her hand in marriage she consistently refuses. The present also offers terrible nightmares of murder and mayhem. The future - will Maxwell believe Navena and will she open up her heart to accept his help? Worth has masterfully written a paranormal adventure with superbly developed characters. The imagery in the descriptions will force you to stay up late reading and thinking about Navena's next move. The suspense, romance and fiery love scenes all brilliantly combine to make this one of the best paranormal romances this year. There are a few editing issues but that don't take away from the story. The twist in the storyline along with smoothness of time shifting will leave you in awe. Stephanie Worth is ready to pick up where the late Octavia Bulter left a colossal void. Reconnecting With Your Heart

I have heard that there is another realm similar to the one we live in. We have mirrored lives there, our twin life. The only difference is that we are opposite in our personality and behaviors. Stefanie Worth's Where Souls Collide, has just that type of storyline with a twist. Imagine being split in two because you cannot handle your gifts, and it will be up to you to become one with yourself at a certain period of time in your life. If you can picture that then you have walked into the world of Navena Larimore. Navena is a thirty-four year-old reporter for the Dispatch. On her birthday, she meets the man that is taking the position at the newspaper that she thought she worked hard for and deserves. She also realizes that her past has caught up with her. The new man in charge was an old flame from fourteen years before, Maxwell McKnight. It is at this time that strange dreams and nightmares start to plague Navena. Decisions that she knew she had needed to make before, but always put off, now seemed as if they need to be made right away. All of these things are new to Navena because there is something from her past that she does not remember, because her mother had separated her from her heart sixteen years before. She had done that to save her daughter's life. The time has come for Navena to reconnect with the rest of herself, her heart, so that she can experience real love. Nothing ever comes easy and to do this she has to follow the clues and the signs to save someone's life, but whose? Stefanie Worth gives you mystery, wonderful well-developed characters, and imagery. Worth truly keeps you on the edge of your seat with every page from beginning to end. There is nothing predictable about this book, at all. The only thing that could have been better was the editing, but the mistakes were not enough to take away from this awesome read. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in psychics, mystery, and good romance. Jennifer Coissiere APOOO BookClub

complex paranormal romantic suspense thriller

Detroit Dispatch reporter Navena Larimore is stunned when she sees former NBA star and community activist Maxwell McKnight in her offices space. The "six foot seven inch demigod" informs her that he is the new executive editor of the paper. She is stunned to find herself working for the man who broke her heart fourteen years ago at Hillside College; especially since it takes him all of ten minutes to anger her. Navena struggles with visions of someone being murdered. She is unaware that her mom sixteen years ago to ease her from the pain of "seeing" her dad die had tampered with her psychic gift. Maxwell, who wants Navena back in his personal life, scoffs at her dreams until he realizes she is the real thing and she is his lifemate, but to persuade her to let him fully in her life will prove a test of time and souls. WHERE SOULS COLLIDE is a complex paranormal romantic suspense thriller starring two fascinating lead characters who battle each other and their karma. The story line is far from linear, but retains a delightful fluidity even as it goes back and forth in time. Fans who enjoy a multifaceted tale of love will appreciate this fine Motor City romance that is worth reading. Harriet Klausner

Some Soul to Keep

WHERE SOULS COLLIDE is a stunning debut and a magnificent read. Worth's writing, the story and the plot grabs on to the reader and doesn't let go. The world building is amazing and works on so many levels. But I can't say too much with out giving away spoilers. Let's just say I love it when an author is able to create multiple worlds, each one believable and engaging. The prose captivates and enthralls. I would put her use of speculative elements and magical realism right up there with the greats like Morrison, Naylor and Walker. The heroine, Navena Larimore, has a gift that has been dormat for the past 16 years of her life. She has to reconnect to the part of herself that holds her gifts before someone dies. If that isn't enough a man from her past comes in and turns her world upside down. The hero, Maxwell Mcknight, is a man on a mission. He is going to win back the love of his life or die trying. Little does he know how literal that sentiment might be... The thing I loved the most about this book was the way that the speculative elements seemed natural, almost every day... The writing flowed so well that it had me thinking I could wake up in the morning with the "Knowing"... maybe read some minds... hear some thoughts... stop time... move objects... And the love story was awesome. I love the way Navena and Maxwell (Mack and Vee) found their way to one another across time and space again and again. It's such a wonderful twist on the soul mates plot that it will make believers in true love out of the most cynical people. And the love scenes are spicy hot. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great read with paranormal, suspense and romance all woven together. Excellent job on your debut Ms. Worth! I look forward to reading more from you.
