I love this book!

I love this book! It is just wonderful. The illustrations are so cute and imaginitive. I got this book for myself for my 48th birthday. I received the first book (My Cat, The Silliest Cat in the World) for Christmas a few years ago (at my request). They are definite keepers to me. Enjoyable, funny, sweet! Gilles illustrations are perfect. I love how he draws the "cat" and all the adventures. I just wish the books were longer.

A treasure I overlooked

I walked past the display this book was on for days before someone pointed it out to me. It is hilarious! The illustrations are wonderfully expressive. I think most kids will find humor in an elephant trying to act like a cat, which is sort of what the book is. Though clearly, the narrator is not the only who who labels his elephant as a 'cat'. Its just an accepted silliness of the world of the book. I think its great, its imaginative and fun and silly without being annoying. Its impish drawings are just a treasure. I will have to hunt down other books by this author.

This is one of the most creative, best picturebooks to cross our shelf in quite some time

Gilles Bachlelet's cat is unusual - actually, it's an elephant... thus begins the fun story of a playful elephant as viewed by an owner who tries to understand him. 'Kitty' is adapting to his new home in strange ways after being chosen from a litter of other brightly colored elephants: he makes a mess, hides from food, and treats a toy with disdain. This is one of the most creative, best picturebooks to cross our shelf in quite some time, and deserves a prime place in any library.
