An Intimate memoire

A candid and intimate memoire that moved me to tears several times. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in understanding more about the Holocaust years from a personal perspective and particularly how those years impacted the people of Poland

A MOVING POWERFUL and INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY

I am overwhelmed by the impact this woman's story has on me. Being a Vietnam War Veteran and after reading this book, I have a higher valuation of life lived in spite of circumstances. My wife told me to read it and she loved it for the strength this woman had as a human being. I found this candid reminiscence to be historical, but not about history. It is about life. In a fascinating montage of personal scenerios, this woman vocalizes several formative chapters of her life through the agency of the human heart. If you are a student of life or just an interested observer, you will find a wondrous treasure in this work. I cannot get over how moved I am.

Incredible Life- Fascinating History- Amazing Facts

This book told from the eyes of a young woman is a simple masterpeice. Her life of love and loss speaks to everyones heart and soul. I think this is probably the most heartfelt exploration of a human being's thoughts during the rise and fall of war I have ever read. It is moving, touching, tender and I couldn't put the book down! Anyone man or woman from any walk of life would have to appreciate this factual and timely story of a woman living in Kazakstan (near Afghanistan) trying to escape the wrath of the Nazi's. It takes place in many countries and will affect you no matter what nationality you are. As an American, this book is a must in understanding love in a time of hate. Remarkable. I can't say enough about this book!!! Give it 10 stars!

The long journey

Was it the book or was my life really falling apart? The first few chapters were so sad, I had to stop. But my courage returned, and I finished the easy to read saga of one woman's ceasless march to stay a step ahead of the Germans. It is inspiring to hear how real people persevere in spite of incredible hardship - and are occasionally rewarded with love and beauty.
