Perfect romance

This is a fun book about Celia and Davis, co-workers with neighboring cubicles at a Portland, Oregon newspaper. Celia writes a wedding column and lives with a cranky parrot, Gazpacho. Davis's cross to bear is his unrequited love for Celia. When Davis kisses Celia one night after a basketball game, things get awkward and they can no longer talk directly to each other. Peppered with a cast of amusing supporting characters - self-centered but oddly lovable Natalie, space cadet Ellen, goofy Corky and even a pair of basketball cheerleaders - this book is a high-spirited romp that reminded me of a Cary Grant/Rosalind Russell movie. (Cary Grant is mentioned several times in the book.) The dialogue is fresh and funny, and the plot keeps moving with a series of lively twists. Highly recommended.
A new spin on "When Harry Met Sally"

"When I Think of You" is a a sweet story of unrequited love, and with a twist, it is the man that has the bug for a change. Recently jilted by her British lover, Celia throws herself into her work - writing obituaries and wedding announcements (called "Unions'" which leads to humorous situations). Unbeknownst to Celia, her longtime best buddy and co-worker, Davis has had a crush on her. Through her relationship ups and downs, he has always been there to lean on, be her stand in date, and watch Lifetime movies with. He is even really understanding at dealing with her bridesmaid jitters as a member of the bridal party from Hell. Then one day Davis gives in to hs impusles and kisses her. Celia completely freaks out, since she does not want to lose him as a friend; she sees Davis as a careful and responsible person, whereas she has always thought of herself as footloose and fancy free, and loves to take on new adventures. Heartbroken, he decides to relegate himself to being her pal and date others. Of course his self-improvement (as well as his very passionate kiss) has Celia suddenly wondering if there is not more that she wants from him. There are secondary stories involving his roommate (the most annoying Springsteen fan in the world) and a recently separated friend of hers, as well as the impending marriage of her self-absorbed best friend, Natalie and her Scottish brogue seeking citizenship and lots of alcohol.

This is a cute best friends falling for each other story. There are a few LOL moments in this book, and the characters were very sweet and likeable. If you want a fast paced that makes you smile, then try out this book. I also enjoy books by: Rachel Gibson, Susan Phillips, Marian Keyes, and Jennifer Cruise.
her best friend loves her

I think I most loved this book because I married my own best friend - who I had no idea was in love with me. So this book melted my heart. I stayed up all night to finish this book. While it's not lofty literature, it IS a sweet romance. It's got the classic frustration of unrequited love, only the man is the frustrated one in love while the woman remains clueless to his feelings. The romantic tension is there. With one mis-timed kiss our hero puts thoughts into the head of our heroine. He thinks she will always think of them only as friends, so he goes about trying (but not succeeding) in trying to forget how he feels about her. And she, starts to notice him...I'm trying NOT to give everything away for you, and hope I'm doing a good job of convincing you to try this one out. I know I was glad for this impulse purchase!
