I like Victoria Lynne's style. It's the first book of hers I've read and now I'm searching for the others. Exciting read.

In 1875 France, the Earl of Barrington, Nicholas Duvall is renowned for his indolent, and arrogant behavior. However, the "Lord of Scandal" as he has been called, is growing bored of the charade he portrays to his peers. However, Nicholas accepts a wager offered by Philip Montrove. Nicholas must pretend to be a coach driver, who offers his services to several stranded passengers. If he takes them to Monaco, he wins the bet. He ponders whether accepting the wager will interfere with his quest to uncover a killer. Deciding no, he agrees.Nicholas turns to the passengers and ends up negotiating with Katya Alexander, who desperately needs to get to Monaco. Katya needs to learn who killed her parents whose jewels were taken by an aristocratic passenger. After receiving a warning by Nicholas, she deftly retrieves her jewels back from the thief. Nicholas convinces Katya to help him find a missing scroll. As they work together, the duo falls in love, but they are descendants from feuding families, leaving no hope for a future together even if they complete their personal quests.Readers need to provide themselves adequate time when they begin WHAT WILD MOONLIGHT in order to avoid sleep depravation because this is a one sitting tale. The action-packed story line is suspense at its most intense. The characters are charming and placing this Victorian couple in the new aristocratic playpen of Monte Carlo adds freshness to the novel. Victoria Lynne will capture the attention of the reader chasing rainbows in their historical romances.Harriet Klausner
