A VERY GOOD READ!!!

This was, and still is one of the best books I have read on the topic of forensics, crime, ect. It is very detailed in how the cases are solved, and the cases themselves are of ingenious situations.... the locked room murders, and such. I would highly recommend this book to anyone for a good read. Especially those interested in forensics, and murders.

Begins with Murder and ends with Suicide

I'm not certain what 'acknowledged' means, as in the phrase, "He has written extensively for television and is an acknowledged expert on forensic medicine." However, that is how the book jacket on "What the Corpse Revealed" describes its author, Hugh Miller. Whether he's a physician or not, Miller tells a heck of a good story. Each one of his sixteen stories was solved through forensic detection, and the author has chosen incidents that are well off the radar of most true crime writers. Many of the murderers are women, and the final murderess in "What the Corpse Revealed" chooses a very unique method of killing herself while in prison. In fact, it's a very unique book through and through -- those British really know how to tell a 'good' murder story. Try this book, and then read "Forty Years of Murder" by Keith Simpson, if you won't take my word for it.If you like true-crime stories with a scientific framework, or if you are a fan of well-told, suspenseful detective tales, "What the Corpse Revealed" will keep you reading well into night. My only advice: keep lots of lights on!

My Bath Time Reading

I loved the book! Excellent - and very hard to put down! I am very interested in studying forensics and plan to begin this coming January. I made me crave the science of forensics even more.

A Quick & Compelling Read....

I purchased this book on a whim, compelled by the cover art and the snippets of reviews contained inside the jacket cover. It has proved to be an extremely entertaining read and has piqued an interest in the realm of forensic investigations. I highly recommend this book.

In Search of....?

This is a great read. Definitely woth the effort. What I found most entertaining about it was the fact that the anecdotes all took a point of view that indicated the author (or narrator) was in search of the truth. They were not trying to use high tech equipment. And that sometimes the cases required "good ol' police work" or common sense. Definitely a worthy effort, and a nice quick and easy read.
