Every young adult should read this, even before marriage!

Extremely eye-opening for my fiance and our relationship of 10 years. Many people wait too long to research and truly learn about what makes love last, but we should all be making an effort to understand roles in relationships while we are beginning dating and searching for that love. Fiance and I discovered we are a lot closer and happier in our relationship than we realized, and often our disappointments we believe to be large can actually be resolved in a conducive manner, through communication. The book explores the ways to do that, and offers approaches to some of the common issues in marriages (i.e. recovering from infidelity, playing the proper roles of listener or speaker). The overall takeaway I have is that no relationship will be perfect and that is actually an unfair and unrealistic expectation to hold. Instead it is important for us to revere each other, and focus on the positive aspects of the relationship, while also taking accountability to do our own part in bettering the marriage. We read this together book-club style, reading assigned chapters weekly and discussing along the way; which was a great bonding exercise.
