A novel of the Pied Piper legend told from the standpoint of a 14-year-old baker's assistant who dreams of freedom from his harsh medieval life and of a new life with the piper. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book provides an interesting take on the Pied Piper story that I found enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the historical perspective the author brought to the book, providing details about how life might have been in a medieval town at that time - and in a way that was easily understandable for a young teenager (which is when I first read the book).
A Twist on the Pied Piper
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
This is a great book. When Gast(the piper)comes to Hamelin, he befriends Geist, a badly treated baker's servant. Gast thinks up a plan to rid Hamelin of disease-carrying rats. When the citizens refuse to pay Gast, he takes revenge on the city's children. This book is based on the Pied Piper story, but has enough of a twist to make it suspenseful and interesting. I very strongly recommend this book.
