What Every Principal Should Know About Teaching Reading: How to Raise Test Scores and Nurture a Love of Reading

I read this book last year after the ASCD conference. It did two things for me. First, it doubled my knowldege base in regards to reading instruction. Secondly, it encouraged me to learn more. Since reading this book, I have gone one to learn a great deal more about reading and know there are several instructional strategies that I believe are of beneifit to students that are very well covered in other books as well. So, it's not the Bible on reading instruction, but it's a keeper, a must read, and one of my summer required readings for my staff.
