Source book for church members

This book will help those working to make their church a welcome place for newcomers. Much to learn about how people fit in, or fail to, in a new church. We will use the insights of this book to bring new members into our church, and to make sure that they feel welcome to join us in our work.

A must-read for anyone working with people in need

I have worked with people in need through my church for 14 years and this book has given me a great new perspective on poverty. I grew up in poverty, and this book has given me new insights into myself as well. Thank you, Ruby.

A must read for the Christian leader

I was reading this book up to the late hours. It began to shed some light on things the church needs to understand when dealing with people from different classes whether upper or lower classes. It is intesting to see what the Bible says about people who are ecomonically rich and those who are poor. I bought three more books for my fellow Christian co-workers so we can create a dialogue and deal with our inner perjudices. I am more aware.

Great Book

This is definitely a must-read for anyone who is in ministry and wants to reach out to those in poverty. One of the other reviewers mentioned that the book doesn't have much in-depth information but I think that is what makes it such a great book. It is a quick read for someone who simply wants a better understanding of how to relate to those in poverty. It opened my eyes to see the learned behaviors and the knowledge that I take for granted - things that I assumed everyone knew. For being such a short book it has made a HUGE impact on the way I see the world. I highly recommend it!!

A Must Read Book!

If you are a paid church worker or an active volunteer or a member of a church board, this is a must read book! It ranks right up there with A Purpose Driven Life & A Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey and Henry Blackaby's, Experiencing God.
