This is a very fine book. Chodren, a Tibetan Buddhist nun, teaches us the basics of Buddhism in a question and answer format. She answers all kinds of questions. For the beginneras well as the more advanced practioner. If you are confusedabout whether to buy this book or her "Buddhism for Beginners",buy this book. This book has a preamble in the beginning of each chapter that teaches you the basics. "Buddhism for Basics"doesn't. This book also includes a section in the back on how to deal with anger. Good luck.
Not Just Another Introduction to Buddhism

I have read numerous introductory and overview books on Buddhism, so I was not expecting to learn much of anything new by reading this book, but was I wrong. This one spoke directly to me and answered a great many questions that I have had for a long time that no other book I have ever read even addressed.
This book is a great introduction to Buddhism.

It clearly explains the basic ideas, without excessive jargon. Important terms like "Dharma" and "Sangha" are explained, but for the most part, the ideas are explained simply, in plain English. The important concepts are explained thoroughly enough for basic understanding, but it doesn't get too deep, so it's ideal for beginners. There was a very helpful section on how to deal with anger. I heartily recommend this section especially. It is true that freeing oneself of anger is important in Dharma practice, but the simple, practical solutions in this section will be helpful to anyone that has problems with anger, Buddhist or not. In general, this book is a good jumping off point for the study of Buddhism.
