Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop of Dreams

I love love love this read! It was so slow going in the beginning (for me) and all the back and forth with the 1940’s and 2012 was spinning my noggin. I don’t tend to like that past to present and back again, but after about 100 pages in I finally started “getting it”. I really started warming up to Lipton and Rosie and Lilian. I enjoyed Lilian’s love story and how it connected to Rosie’s current day love story of her own. I enjoyed the sweets and craved sugar, although I was good and didn’t have a bite of candy like I typically would when reading books with candy and baked goodies. The sweet shop is magic. Rosie is magic, too! She awakened the small town and I found myself unable to put the book down when I was at the last quarter of it because I desperately needed to know that Rosie had fallen in love and had kept the sugar shop and had stayed in Lipton! I also needed to know that Lilian would be fine and strong and all she could be. So, I stayed up until 3am finishing the book and stayed up a bit after that just thinking of the story. I’m so excited there is more and can’t wait to see what Colgan will do with this little town. Next story is book 2 of 3 Christmas at Rosie Hopkins’ Sweetshop. And, I will also add that when I read these English books, I hear the characters voices speaking with the British accent. Brilliant! Bravo, Jenny!
