A weekend of sun and fun in Acapulco turns into a nightmare when nine teenagers trapped in a mansion realize that they have been lured there for a deadly reason.
One of my favorites! I've read all of Christopher Pike's YA horror books (when I was a teen and, again, when I was in my 30's), and I'm rating my favorites now with a similar review just to let you know what books are his absolute best, in my opinion. This is in my top 5!

This story is very entertaining and suspenseful. A group of teenagers go to a party in Mexico at their friend's mansion. They think it's a time for beer, tan lines, and an overall good time. But somebody in they're little get-together is a traitor, and soon this enjoyable vacation becomes scary beyond imaginable. On saturday, they worked on their tans...By Sunday, they were working on keeping alive.

A must read! In this book 9 friends go on a vacation in Mexico but once they are there it ends up to be a nighmare where they have to relive a horror to find out the truth about who poisoned one of their friends,Robin, who is about to die. You really have to read this book! Its my personal favorite and ever since I read it Ive been addicted to Pikes novels!

I think I read this for the first time when I was about 14, and I went back & reread it when I was moving books to my new house last year, and I was amazed by how suspenseful it still is (and how much knowing how the Beatles' song BLACKBIRD goes improves my reading of certain scenes). I don't know why they don't turn this into a movie - maybe it's the Happy Ending component, maybe it's the fact that there's a lot of drinking in the book by high school seniors (note: back in the mid-80's, when this book was written, the drinking age was 18), but this is a really great tale about families and good friends - there are scary parts, too, but the goodness of some of the characters is such a positive.
Excellent book one of the best.

After reading Slumber Party first, I was itching to see another story similar to it. I saw "Weekend" and thought this is it. I read it non-stop and although I was only 12 at the time it was still the best book. At the end I could not sit still because it scared me so much. I paced and walked all over the house while finishing it. It was truly suspenseful and a true thriller to me. After a year I bought it, having to read it again. I hope to see yet another like it or possibly a sequel to this fabulous book. It was scary yet had a good ending. It was, in short, some of his best work
