A selection of poems on a wide range of subjects - from the internment experience which silenced the poet's own family and that of many Japanese Americans, to the Gulf War. This description may be from another edition of this product.
My sister gave this book to me as a gift, it truly is a gift that continues to give.I have taught Ms. Mirikitani's book of poetry at three different universities, in two different states. It is without a doubt that "We, The Dangerous..." breaks more ground than simply poetic. The clarity of the prose never wavers, nor does her committment to end social injustice. Indeed, the pen is mighter than the sword. Ms. Mirikitani has enabled countless of my students to survive their nightmares, learn from history and most importantly--emerge victorious. This review may sound a little over done, however, the astounding and moving reactions that students have shared in these seminars are the best indications of Mirikitani's poetic success. Purchase her collection and you will see what I mean.
