We Can't Sleep

The story will have any child hooked by the first page and will want to read it over and over. Luckily, the story can easily be recited by memorization and picture clues by any pre or beginning reader. Conversation between you and your child will flow effortlessly as you read and anticipate what will happen next together. Ask many questions about what is going on in the pictures and let the child's own imagination drift off as to what Grandpa does next in his adventure.

We brought this book home three days ago, and our two year old has asked to have it read to him (or recited by memory as he's going to sleep) at least 30 times. And believe it or not, I'm not tired of it. When Mary Ann and Louie can't fall asleep, Grandpa tells them a tale of his exciting adventures when he couldn't sleep as a boy -- one that surprisingly put them to sleep (and also works on my son). Features sharks, polar bears, walruses, dragons, crocodiles, running uphill, swimming the ocean, and flying via hurricane. One of the best children's books I've ever read (and reread and reread and reread and reread).
