A quick read and a good read. I polished this off during the airtravel portion of a recent trip. Easy read, you could get it done in a day and still have time for dinner. The prose is remarkable and the content macabre-fully delightful. The entire experience is fantastic. The American reader will find a tough time only a few times with "Scottishisms". I hope you pick this book up. The subject matter of the book - death - is a thinly disguised look at how we deal with Life and it's frail mortal beauties.

I thought this was a very thought-provoking book. It had a serious side as well as several humorous touches. It gives a very real view of Glasgow/Scottish life, and an insight of a child growing in to a man. I couldn't put this book down!
