Cameron Argetsinger's Legacy

Having grown up in Watkins Glen I could not escape the influence of Cameron Argetsinger on the town. I went to school with several of his sons. I had the privilege of meeting Cameron in the spring of 2006 at the racing library that he established. This book brings together how Cameron originally brought about road racing to Watkins Glen and how he has influenced the sport for most of his lifetime. The number and variety of vehicles raced at the Glen are pictured in this book. Not everyone is cut out for racing, but most of us enjoy the blend of human and machine that is involved in operating an automobile. I had the privilege of moonlighting as Wall Street Journal deliveryman in Atlanta many years ago. I enjoyed steering my Mazda GLC with my left thigh while folding and inserting the papers in plastic bags with my hands. A childhood with a 1953 Willy's Jeep used as a farm tractor also was the source of many memories. A seven year stint in floral delivery brought out another type of man/machine coordination. I will leave the racing to the younger set. I have had my share of speeding tickets, thank you.

Great memories of the Glen

Having grown up in Watkins Glen, this book brought back many memories of watching the cars and the people on the streets of the village. The pictures are great and you can almost hear the sound of the cars buzzing through the streets. Good memories for any road racing fans.
