A review of the nonbook "Water's Edge" not written by Judith McNaught!

Here's a quote I found someplace on the internet: "Despite various flagrantly incorrect assertions circulating all over the internet, Water's Edge was never published. Judith was halfway through writing it when, according to her, she realized she had two very good books going. So what is an author as smart as JM to do? Why split them up, of course! The book that emerged from the split was Someone To Watch Over Me, which is in stores now. [This article was written some time ago, so Someone to Watch Over Me has been out in hardback and paperback now.] Below is what Judith had to say about the change on SimonSays.com: 'The time travel was originally called WATER'S EDGE and had a great red cover. When I stopped working on the time travel, I decided to keep and use the title WATER'S EDGE--and the cover--for the contemporary mystery. Then, about 4 months ago, when the contemporary mystery finally lit up for me and I could see and access it's potential, I decided I was tired of the title WATER'S EDGE. I thought it deserved a better title and more intriqing cover. Something new and fresh and uniquely its own. Pocket agreed. My editor agreed, and we started playing with titles on the phone. Within an hour we had STWOM, and I loved it. Pocket sent me two ideas for new covers, and I was crazy about the second one, which is the cover that you're seeing now for STWOM. I have no idea if I'll ever use the title WATER'S EDGE for anything in the future. I kind of doubt it. We've all talked about it so long, I'm tired of it.'" So, folks, as much as we enjoyed the tease published at the end of one of her books, I don't think we'll ever see it published, not to mention written! I gave it five stars anyway; I was looking forward to it that much!

This book does exist.

I remember seeing Water's Edge for almost a month at my local Barnes and Noble, but I didn't buy it, because I was waiting for it to go on sale like a lot of her other books do. Then, I read the excerpt for it in the back of another book, and it was so good that I decided to buy it no matter what it cost. When I went back to BN the book was gone, and when I had the staff check their system, they told me that the book was no longer in print and not being published again. No other name was on the book, but Judith McNaught. The cover was blue and black, and had a picture of a rippling pond on it. And the title said "Water's Edge", I was really excited when I saw it had come out. I'm sure that someone, somewhere bought a copy of the book as soon as they saw it, but I doubt they'll ever sell it. I know I wouldn't.
