Each lighthouse gets a chapter of review, is briefed with informative paragraphs on its history, and is accompanied by a photograph. A map outlines the location of each lighthouse by section, and for those lights that are open to the public, a paragraph with directions and visiting hours appends each lighthouse chapter (although for some not open to the public, the user is left with only the map as a guide to locating the lighthouse for a possible visit).Also included in the book are informative chapters on lightships and tenders of the region, as well as chapters on lenses, fog signals and other lighthouse equipment. Taken all together, the text is very interesting reading, and provides not only the physical particulars of each lighthouse, but enlightening information on local history and events.Measuring 5-12" x 8'12", the book easily fits into the glove box of most cars, making it the perfect travelling companion to aid in locating each lighthouse in your travels.
