A Necessary History

This compilation of Katrina stories is necessary for anyone attempting to understand the loss, pain, confusion, and sometimes joy experienced by those in New Orleans during (and during the aftermath of) Hurricane Katrina. The variety of voices is truly remarkable, and many of these stories are unforgettable. I look forward to Volume II.

Relive the Storm

There is only one way to understand what hurricane Katrina was really like, and thats to hear it straight from thsoe who endured it. This book does just that. It is a valuable collection of stories from and about the people that weathered the greatest storm to have ever hit the Unites States....

Powerful Primary Source

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina The University of New Orleans -- with the help of faculty, students and staff -- collected hundreds of accounts, interviews and recordings from citizens who went through the storm. This extremely useful and important book presents a sampling of the stories collected. (The full collection is housed at the University of New Orleans Library.) Stories cover the politics, culture and emotions involved in the initial disaster and chaotic recovery efforts -- all from the point of view of the people who lived it. This is essential reading for anyone who wants to better understand the impact of the storm.
