I agree with the previous reviewer, considering how long this book has been out, it's incredibly informative. It's also surprisingly easy to read considering the detali that the authors go into. A great book to start learning about phone systems.
a great start

This book is 20 years old, still it outperforms almost all modern books on the subject when it comes to clarity and sense of humor. The book IS NOT OUTDATED! If you are still using plain old telephone service and if you company has a PBX this book is probably the best to start with. It explains how the phone works, describes all the usefull features such as call forwarding and automatic call distribution -- all the features that are still in use today! But I bought this book not even because of that but because I was impressed by the explanation how a computer works. That's truly amazing explanation -- I'm a network administrator and I've read many books about computers but what I've read in those few pages was just brilliant. This book is dirt cheap here to buy -- read it and you'll have a great time and learn all you need to know about analog phone technology.
