Tension and hair raising suspense in this entry to the WILDERNESS series!

Nate King was a mighty mountain man. He lived free, fought hard and kept a journal of his trials and tribulations along his way to live the dream. The dream? Simple, to raise his family and live a peaceful life in the mountains that he loved so dearly wihtout the laws imposed by an ever encroaching civilization. With that, comes a price, sometimes a hefty one. Life is anything but peaceful. A mountain man and his family must always be prepared to fight the hostile elements in an untamed wilderness. This story is based upon an entry that perhaps some might see as a tall tale, an exaggeration of the facts. However, it definitely could have happened exactly as this story unfolds. Tension builds from the first sentence, "She was sleek and gorgeous and five feet long." to a brutal melee at the end of book. If you are scared of snakes, beware! Being a Coloradoan, it certainly makes a girl think about the untold dangers around the boulders in the mountains that she loves to hike. This entry is a treat as it features the entire King family and the rest of the inhabitants of King's Valley. If ever a writer could make history come alive, David Thompson does it in a big way! Thompson keeps the series fresh and the reader's hair on end throughout this epidsode of The Wilderness! Pulp fiction and the wild west come together in this enduring series.

Just finished it last night!

I hate poisonous snakes. I can't imagine what Nate King and his family and many other settlers went through in dealing with these slithery dangerous animals. David Thompson does it again in a wonderful series that should be a TV Show.
