U.S. News Ultimate Guide to Medical Schools

Purchased this book to help our daughter decide which medical schools to apply to. Very informative with statistical data as to what each school looked for in regards to MCAT scores, GPA. Also gave stats on the number of interviews granted, acceptance rates, broken out by male/female, minority, etc. There is also a summary of current students' comments on how they felt about the school. Well worth purchasing.

Helpful in deciding where to apply

This book contains information that is very similar to the book published by the AAMC, Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR). The most important information contained in this book is the data on in-state and out-of-state acceptance rates. As a result, I knew which out-of-state medical schools were worth applying to (UMich, UCSF) and which ones were not (UC-Irvine). I would recommend getting either this book or the MSAR.

Ultimate Guide to Medical Schools

Some of the information is a little outdated, but is still very relevent and useful. It gave me some insight as to the whole process of applying ofr med school. I recommend this book to anyone considering applying to med school.

Great item, especially for those interviewing

This is a great book. It has several lists that describe schools, most/least expensive, most/least diversity, most/least loans, most/least financial aid, most/least minorities, you get the point. The lists are interesting and they provide a great deal of information about the school. What is really great about this book is the description of each school, with its stats and US news and WR ranking (so you don't have to buy the magazine that ranks other schools as well). In addition, it gives you detailed information about how many students applied, how many interviewed, and how many got offered a spot post interview (this latest part is not present in the official AAMC guide to medical school). So, if you are interviewing at a specific school I would def recommend this book. It will help you on your interview about specific school info, as well as put your mind at ease and show the real deal as far as your chances of getting in once you get offered an interview. It's a tough process and very nerve wrecking, I am lucky cuz i'm done early (just got two acceptances). To everyone out there who is pre-med, applying or interviewing. GOOD LUCK. I hope this helps.
