Understanding other religions is no longer an academic, ivory tower exercise. In this timely and important book, Dr, Braswell provides an introduction to the major world religions, as well as many of the minor ones.
Braswell has done an excellent job overall in presenting world religions; however, in places he is somewhat repetitive and a bit superficial. There is so much emotional investment as well as intellectual activity involved in anyone's religion. I would have enjoyed a bit of information showing adherents' -- or devotees -- emotional investment in their religion. Braswell tends to present religions with a far more objective view of experiences in our world today. That's not bad. I just would delight to see more on the emotional side as balance. I have used the book in my seminary class on a bachelors level and for them it's quite appropriate. He does engage the reader very well. Overall it is quite good!
good review of world religions

At bookstores and libraries, I browsed through a dozen or so paperbacks on world religions before choosing this one. It's clear, informative, and interesting, as well as inexpensive.
Comprehensive study

Dr. Braswell has written an excellent book giving the major tenets of each religious expression and tradition as mentioned in the book's title. He unapologetically and undogmatically presents his Christian stance in light of the existence of the other world religions. The last chapter in the book showcases a perspective that is personal and yet Christ-honoring.
