When I was (much) younger, I believed that religious leaders - priests, pastors, deacons, nuns - all those sorts of people - went thru life without ever questioning their faith. They had made their decision early on and somehow remained rooted in their faith. Now that I am (much) older, I have learned most people, including religious leaders, question their faith in times of transistion. This book takes you through Mr Caulfield's decision to leave a monastery where he had been a monk. The decision was not lightly. It is quite interesting to see a "man of the cloth" question his beliefs and to see how he coped. I recommend this book to anyone going through their own "dark night of the soul".
