Book Overview

Welcome to Los Angeles, birthplace and residence of Tori Spelling. It's not every Hollywood starlet whose name greets you on a Virgin Airways flight into la-la land. But Tori Spelling has come to... This description may be from another edition of this product.

I started with this one....

I didn't really have an interest in reading Tori Spelling's books...till I got hooked on her show. Much of reality tv is scripted, no matter what they want you, the viewer, to believe. But the love this woman has for her children is definitely real...and I got lured in. I picked up this book on a sale and started with it. I went right through it, had no problem getting interested. After I finished, I headed right to my library and picked up the first two. If you ever wondered why there is so much animosity between Tori and her mother, you will learn the real story by reading her books (I have no doubt she is telling the truth here, there is clearly pain in her words). I considered reading her mom's book, but now have no interest. She appears to be a real, honest person- silly and quirky with a bit of OCD mixed in. Gotta love her.

Tori's Stories always make me smile!

I never really had an interest in Tori Spelling until I got a stomach flu one day! I had of course watched 90210, as I was a teenager in the Zack and Kelly era of the 90's. I had stonewashed jeans, a side ponytail, and the obligatory dark lip liner with the plum lipstick. Well one day I was so sick that I could not move...I mean keep a bucket by the bed sick. As I lay there dying, I flipped on thee tv and saw my first episode of Tori and Dean "Inn Love", where they manage a bed and breakfast. I was instantly mesmerized. I ended up watching the entire marathon that whole day, catching up on the whole season. I was addicted, and since then have watched and read anything she has put out. I previously had only seen what was in the media, which had been "eating disorder", "homewrecker", or "90210 diva". For the first time ever, I think Tori was able to get to show the world exactly who she was on her terms. Do I think she is a little neurotic and a hypochondriac...sure...but who isn't? So honestly, I find her books self depreciating, hilarious, supremely honest, and ever so engaging. I think she is charming, and her words come off the page as HER words...and not a ghostwriter hired to make her look good as per her publicist. I stay away from Hollywood trash for the most part...avoiding People and OK magazines like the plague. But to me, Tori spelling is real in a way that we never get to see with other "celebrities". I will patiently wait for whatever she writes next...and I fully believe that she will put out another dozen novels...I am just curious as to how many cute titles she can come up with...Tori only rhymes with so many things!

A different take on Tori

So, I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 Tori books. They were not a big escape from the show, but had some additional layers, stories, and were really funny. This book, though amusing and cute, had so much more depth than the others by far. I, too, lost my Dad about a year ago, and am a very hard working Mom, who constantly struggles with the balance that comes with that, and I felt for all of Tori's struggles. How you spend time with the kids when there is work to do? How you work when the kids need you? How does my husband not want to spend the day with the family when he has been away? And what am I going to make for the next school event that will show my love...and be fabulous? I found myself chocked up, and brought to tears a couple of times, while laughing aloud in between. Great job Tori!

Never a let down

I love Tori Spelling's 'out-there' persona. The book did not let me down like her others that I have read. Great book and lots of laughs.

Third time (is still!) the charm!

I'm going to (seemingly) go against most of the other reviews when I write that I enjoyed this book as much as the first two. Of course, the first book was set over a what--20 something year period and the second one was about just being married and then quickly having two kids. I really enjoy her books, as even though she does lead a completely different life than most of us, she works extremely hard and shows that it IS hard as a female to try to have that great balence between work and kids and husband. What you see in public is the perfect persona. What you read is that she is REAL--like us (okay, except that she had Aaron Spelling as a father!) with fears, faults and etc, which she is not afraid to admit or own up to. Family matters (ex-wife and step son), having 2 children and realizing that your life is now theirs)is hard enough. Having your life hung out for all to see, although for the most part, her choice,--this book is a "her side of the story" type of thing. She shows time and time again that she is human-- -for example, I flew for years, loving it, completely unafraid . .and later turned into a fearful flyer. Her description of what happens to her when she flies is perfect, as only another fearful flyer would know! Or when her son hit her, knocking off her hat and glasses . .hysterical to hear as only kids can embarass parents like that! Or when her husband told her that she had changed . .well yes .. after two kids and work and daily life.. it sometimes gets hard, and yes again, it does get in the way of sex at times. Sorry guys! We don't do it on purporse! Way to go Tori! Keep writing . .love you style!
