It could have been perfect BUT...

The mixture of themes in this book was well done. Western/horror/steampunk? Story line was great, characters were wonderful as well BUT... I began to tire of the excessive use of "Pig $hit" toward the end. It really killed it for me. Aside from that it was a good read.

A genre composite.

Wow! I don't know where to start with a review of this book! It is a western, a love story, a horror, steam-punk and a magical fantasy. The prose is so lyrical that sometimes I read a paragraph over again. This is the story of Carol Evers, a woman who fell into a coma many times in her life and always unexpectedly. She is in a loveless marriage to a man who wants her dead for real. The characters are all very real and some scenes are horrible to read but you will not be able to put the book down! This author is in a class by himself and yet has flavors and hints of Poe, Stephen King, and Alice Hoffman. I highly recommend this book and now will seek out his first novel as well.
