Francie Rivers is One of My Favorite Authors

Francine Rivers has become one of my favorite Christian fiction authors due to her ability to bring me right into the story. I love the history of the Bible and the when the stories are enhanced just enough to make the story real it is so exciting and almost like going back in time. It's like watching a movie that is based on a true story with the embellishments used by the movie production team. Francine's research is impeccable, and I recommend her books to all! Her books are the ones I loan out and ask that they be returned to me.

I have enjoyed all of the books in this series that I have read so far.

Easy to read interpretation of each Bible story with Bible study questions at the end.

Excellent read!

This book was such a great reminder that the people of the bible are just that- people. Francine takes you through a first hand account of what it was like to be Rahab-all the emotions, doubt, frustration ect that I am sure she felt as she walked through life. For some reason, this really spoke to me as a woman, and serves as a reminder to always have faith.

About Belonging

There were moments I smiled with Rahab and felt joy, there were moments with her that my eyes were so blurred with tears that I couldn't read for the space of a few blinks. Her story was inspiring - she wanted so badly to belong to God and be one of His chosen, and her faith shone so bright in the darkness of the rest of the people of Jericho's unbelief in God ... I couldn't believe it when after all Rahab had done to also save her family's lives, that they said what they said and behaved as they did toward her. I understood Rahab's frustration with them - she couldn't understand why they did not believe in - or even want to believe in, and trust in, God. Regardless of the lack of support from her family, and regardless of how she had made mistakes in her life and felt moments of shame, she had great faith in God to save her and accept her, and it was so good for my heart to read about how he not only saved her, but welcomed her as his chosen and then blessed her with someone who loved her and who didn't focus on her past, but on her future.

Another Example of God's Love Finding You

This is truly a marvelous read. As with her first book, Ms. Rivers has once again brought to life a woman, who by her faith and courage shows us, as women of today, how to live for God. Joshua 6:25 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel [even] unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.==========================Hebrews 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.===========================When I finished reading this book, my thoughts were of how God is no respecter of person. All you need is to believe and have a willing heart to serve Him. Rehab was a prostitute, residing in Jericho who was chosen by God to be a help to His people, the Israelites. She not only believed and accepted the God of Israel as her God, but her faith was such that she trusted him to keep her and her family from harm even in the midst of all that was going on around her. I can understand her "bullying" her family. Even today when a member of a household is 'Saved'; their only desire is to share and show what God has done for them and like Rehab's family, no matter how much they may see the marvelous workings of God around them, they just continue to hold fast to their 'idols' of man's making. The love story is a small part of a small book, yet I think the love story is more about Rehab and God Himself. By her actions, she is changing because of her trust and faith in Him.The romance with Salmon is well done for the time frame that its placed in. I would have liked to have read more about it, yet I can't image God bringing them together and not blessing her with a happy and fruitful marriage. We have to remember that she is of course, named in the lineage of Jesus Christ.I think that says it all.

Enchanting Story

As in all her other books, Francine Rivers astounds the reader in her book "Unashamed", telling the story of Rahab in a way you usually don't consider. While I thought of Rahab as a special person who did a good deed, Francine Rivers draws the reader in to see how Rahab fit into God's plan, and how she drastically changed her life because of her craving to follow God. You feel like you're there- as if you are actually seeing the things Rahab did, and feeling the intensity of her deep desire to know the Lord. At the end of the book there's even a part for discussion in Bible studies that prods even an individual to search for an evaluation of their own spiritual life.I loved this story! It's every bit as good as you can expect. Francine Rivers writes with such depth you can't help but stay glued to the end, even if you know how the story goes in the Bible. What I especially liked was how differently I viewed Rahab when I was finished reading. This book completely can change your perspective on her uniqueness. Her unshakeable faith, as a new believer with no support from any family or friends, inspired and encouraged me, as someone who has been raised in a Christian family, and opened my eyes to God's power to do anything and His ability to use anyone. Check this book out!

Brava

This will probably be my favorite story in this series(although I have always enjoyed the story of Ruth a lot, and anticipate her story). What Rahab did was a beautiful, unselfish act that God never forgotten and didn't let pass by. it just goes to show you how God always will use someone to help him in His cause. And how many wished for a man liked Salmon? I mean despite what he saw, he saw her heart, and wanted her despite her past. That takes an extraordinary person to do that. But, one thing he did was pray and seek wise counsel before anything else. It showed that despite his feelings, he prayed for God's counsel. What a beautiful story!

Rahab- a woman of true faith

I have always loved the story of Rahab- a woman who had incredible faith in God. Francine Rivers, in her usual flawless style, brings readers the story of a Canaanite prostitute who risked her life to hide two Israelite spies, and because of her bravery and deep belief in God was richly rewarded. The second book in the Lineage series, Rahab reminds us never to lose faith, even in our darkest moments.
