Readable commentary on this fine part of scripture

In recent study of Hebrews, I have used both Guthrie's commentary, as well as Bruce's (New International Commentary on the NT) - a combination I commend.Guthrie's work (in line with the style of the Tyndale New Testament Commentary series) appears to have a less 'scholarly' audience, with less reference to and discussion of the Greek, manuscript evidence and so on. Yet, Guthrie's introduction (covering authorship, original audience and canonicity) was excellent for the lay reader.Overall, a fine book to get you started with the Epistle to the Hebrews. Really helpful to today's reader, who is so removed from the original culture and context.
