Not only does this novel have a most excellently developped plot, but its ironic style and humorous approach makes it a satire of its own genre at the same time. Davies' trick is that he describes his characters as we expect them to be in Westerns or in science fiction novels, as mere stereotypes, not people. But this is what makes them really funny. This is one of the best books that I have ever read!

It was a very suspenseful story that kept you on your toes. You never could predict what would happen on the next page! If I were able to pick Newbery winners this would be one.
Nicely done

Read Bone Wars first and you'll have the background to hit the ground running with this new entry. Aliens in Montana hunting for dinosaur bones because they are their long lost ancestors? Okay, why not? Birds are descended from dinosaurs, so why not aliens, too? It works for me.This book is enjoyable and an easy read. I recommend it to those who enjoy a little comedy with their science fiction and archeology.
