I'm impartial, I must state at the outset, because I used to work with Michael at The Detroit News and absolutely loved his wit and charm and knowledge of television. Michael profiles lots and lots of celebrity females in this book, arranged by groupings such as "Grand Dames," "Lear Ladies" (as in Norman), "Sitcom Princesses" and "Reformed Bimbos." There are black-and-white photos throughout of these small-screen ladies. Michael has amassed an amazing amount of TV expertise during his years in the journalism business, and he is astute and savvy in his assessment of these personalities. Plus, he can turn a phrase on a dime and get eight cents change. The book, published in 1987, begs an update.
